Love UnLocked

I ran from my home, I ran from my friends, funny how things seem like they'll never end.
Cherished memories dead in my heart, I felt they'd been carried away in a cart.
I led her astray and when she fell dead, I thought I'd never leave the side of her bed.
I tried to let go of the pain in my soul, lest all I could feel was the shattering cold.
I thought that my last ray of hope was extinguished, I thought my salvation had been relinquished.
Then I found the eternal power of life, the goal of my strife, the goal of my life.
I thought we'd be together forever, but then I felt that it could be never.
For since you had already long been dead, you felt you belonged where you were instead.
But the last words you spoke restored my flame, you uttered your wish, you redeemed my name.
Until death cuts the thread that binds my life, I will live with your wisdom, to do what is right.
And then one day we shall meet again, and on that day I'll hear on your breath,
the words that helped me restore my faith, the vow of our love, like a soaring dove.
